JOEY SAYE

One of Chicago’s finest blues guitar players and vocalists is the youngest band member in the Chicago Blues Lifters, Joey Saye. His sound and musicianship far surpass his age and his unique, blues guitar style is deeply rooted and influenced by his Liberian African background. He attacks the strings with a finesse that embodies the heart and soul of the Chicago Blues. Joey was inspired by reputable blues artists like Muddy Waters, Memphis Minnie, Howlin Wolf, and many other blues legends- all who helped Joey at an early age to begin to sharpen his craft and develop his love for blues music. This early framework gave him the ability to perform classic and contemporary style blues flawlessly. Joey also credits hearing his grandmother- who would break out in song at any given moment- with teaching him the value of the music and its way of bringing people together, all while soothing the soul.
